Adobe has posted this information. Currently, Adobe has NO plans to implement ATM support for MacOS X as font rasterization is built into
the OS. It is an "end-of-life" product. and Adobe recommends that we move on to other software for font management, including Font Reserve
-- my choice -- (or Font Reserve Server) or Suitcase.

Adobe says that although they do not officially support ATM beyond MacOS 9.0.4, it SHOULD work with 9.1.

Sidebar: ATM was originally developed by Adobe many years ago to function only as a font rasterizer for PostScript fonts to avoid jaggies
on-screen or to non-PostScript output devices such as printers. Truetype fonts do not require ATM for proper display or output. It was only
much later on that Adobe decided to go head-to-head with Suitcase and MasterJuggler in font management by producing ATM Deluxe. Now
that MacOS X can rasterize all fonts itself, there is no need for ATM's original purpose.

Perhaps in part because of this, and the overall small market -- most folks don't add fonts, or just keep those they have inside the System Folder
where no font management software can manage them -- Adobe has decided to return to letting the other software developers handle the font
management software business -- which is, in reality, a fairly small, specialized sector. But, nothing says that Adobe can't visit re-entry into
this market in the future.

In case you are not aware of the following issues...

If you are at ATM Deluxe level 4.0 or earlier, you cannot download (or email) a later version -- it is not a free upgrade transition. It must be
purchased. The free download posted only works if you already own 4.5 or later.

For those who use both Suitcase for management and ATM for display, make sure that you are just using the ATM control panel, and make
sure it loads after Suitcase to avoid a conflict. I had also read of an issue about turning off (???) Menu Fonts, but I can't find it for the moment.

Make sure that you have no duplicate or corrupted fonts -- current systems are far more sensitive to damaged fonts than in the past. Reinstall
from the ORIGINAL foundry diskettes or CD-ROMs or legitimate downloads.

Make sure that your bitmap (screen font) suitcases and your printer fonts are stored at the same level in the same overall folder(s). If you have
more than a handful of fonts, do not stick them all inside the System Folder's Fonts folder, if for no other reasons: you cannot manage them
there, and when you have lots of fonts, they add to the system overhead.

Do not rename the font components (although the suitcase containing the bitmaps can be safely renamed).
